Red Asphalt V (Asfalto Sangriento V)
Red Asphalt V-- Just out! Brand new for 2006. This latest video is hosted by
a teenager and is primarily intended to influence teen attitudes toward safe
driving, although most adults would surely benefit from viewing it as well. 42,000 people are killed each year in the U.S. as a result of car
crashes. That's equivalent to the loss of two jumbo jets every week.
The video points out that the number one cause of death for teens is car
crashes. There are more than a dozen graphic scenes of dead motorists
consisting of mangled faces and bodies as well as intestines and severed limbs
on the road. It is probably the most graphic of all the Red Asphalt videos and
promises to be the most effective. There are several interviews with the
families and friends of the victims displaying the devastating effect that the
death of their loved one has had on their lives. This video is sure to catch
the attention of the viewer and will hopefully lead to less injuries and
fatalities on the road.
The DVD also includes a Spanish version. Only on the DVD, not the VHS.

One Second in Time (Un Segundo en el Tiempo)
This video describes how Edgar, a young man from Oregon, was driving in his Ford Mustang with his girlfriend and her 11 year old sister in the car when he was challenged to a street race by the driver in the next lane. The reving of the other car's engine was just too much of a temptation for Edgar and off they went. Unfortunately this led to an accident which resulted in the death of his girlfriend's 11 year old sister.
Most of us don't leave the house with the intent of becoming involved in a race and we must resist the urge to do so when egged on by another driver. As for Edgar, he was sentenced to 5 years in jail, and more significantly, will have to live with the knowledge that his irresponsible driving led to the death of an innocent 11 year old girl.

Thus read the license plate of a 27 year old man driving a Corvette involved in an 80 mph street race with a Lamborghini which resulted in a horrific accident. The driver of the Lamborghini crossed the center line of the road and was involved in a head on collision with a Volvo. The severity of the accident was such that both cars became airborne and a witness described the scene as if car parts were raining from the sky. The driver of the Lamborghini and the innocent driver of the Volvo were both killed at the scene.
Family members of the Volvo driver are interviewed and describe the permanent pain that they will endure and also how difficult it was to tell the Volvo driver's daughter that daddy would never be coming home. Although the driver of the Corvette was not directly involved in the accident or the deaths of the other 2 drivers, he was sentenced to 5 to 15 years in jail as a consequence of street racing which lead to the deaths of the other two individuals.

Fatigue: Almost Home (Casi en Casa)

Rusty's regret...
Although Rusty had not slept the entire previous night, he felt that he could stay awake for another 90 seconds until he arrived at home. Unfortunately he fell asleep and was involved in a crash which propelled him through his sunroof out of the car and led to his permanent paralysis. The warning signs of sleepy driving are listed in an effort to save lives.
Maggie's Law...
This incident led to the establishment in New Jersey of a law against driving while sleepy.
Maggie, a beautiful 20 year old college student, had her entire future come to an end by a driver who fell asleep behind the wheel. The video shows how her friends, boyfriend and family were affected for life and the permanent psychological devastation that her father suffered as a result of the incident and having to go down to the morgue to identify his daughter's body.
Incredibly, the other driver was fined $200 and sent home. As a result of this incident, today in New Jersey if someone is involved in an accident as a result of drowsy driving, they can be sentenced for up to 10 years in jail and fined up to $150,000.
Kevin's Dad...
Kevin was a bright high school student who hoped to become a famous soccer player some day. Unfortunately he will never be able to realize his dream. He was riding his bicycle along the side of the road when a shift worker, who had only slept 4 hours in the last day and a half, dozed off and struck him killing him at the scene. Surprisingly, the incident took place in mid afternoon. Kevin's dad gives an emotional account of the incident and how he has been affected for life by the loss of his son.
Tom and Jane...
Tom, a college professor, had driver countless times while sleepy and had never had a problem. All this changed one day when he fell asleep behind the wheel resulting in the death of his passenger, his wife Jane. Tom expresses the void left in his life by the loss of his wife and encourages others to never drive when they are tired.
Most people don't realize that in addition to midnight to 6:00 am, mid afternoon is the other time of the day when we are most sleepy. Nationwide, sleepy drivers account for 100,000 crashes, 71,000 injuries and 1500 deaths. The video shows the signs of when you are becoming sleepy and encourages you to act immediately to avoid a potential tragedy.

La "ira en la calle" es un comportamiento violento y deliberado de un conductor en respuesta a un agravio real o imaginario en el tránsito. Los conductores pueden usar sus vehículos como armas, o incluso bajarse de sus automóviles para acosar o atacar a otro conductor. La ira en la calle ocurre cuando algo "truena" en un conductor quien en general manejaría y obedecería todas las leyes de tránsito. El conductor "agresivo" es similar al que sufre de ira en la calle.
